On the site of the former Prison Moabit a park was created, which is at the same time a memorial place and usable park for the residents and visitors. The basis of the design was the history of the place since the construction of the prison over 150 years ago. There are relics of the former uses to be discovered all over the site.
In collaboration with local residents, v. a. For children and adolescents, a park was created, which was awarded the Golden A’Design Award in 2017 in the category ‘Landscape Planning and Garden Design’. The competition entry can be viewed here, as a bookpage and as a download.
In 2007 our planning office was awarded the German Landscape Architecture Prize for this project.
In September 2007, the project received the 1st prize of the 2007 daylight space award – international architecture and design competition; due to the special use of daylight as a dramaturgical design element in connection with the theme of the park.
Furthermore the project was honored in 2007 with the 2nd prize of the Made in Germany – Best of Contemporary Architecture.
